How to loosely curl hair

my hair is naturally straight, NO wave or curl whatsoever. no texture. and we all know that people with straight hair want curly and vice versa. when i curl my hair its normally tight and i like it, but i want to try something a little different. my hair holds curls very well. but i would like to know what it would take to turn my hair in the following pictures.

if you compare them to others the hair isnt REALLY essentially curled curled. its alot looser and is more piecey. how would i get that? do i still need a curling iron? what size? do i need certain products, procedures?

braiding and buns do not work with asian hair, unfortuantely. it looks really weird and abnormal..

thanks for your help :]How to loosely curl hair
I would say ne sized curling iron will work. But use bigger ones for longer hair. Just don't hold the curling iron in your hair so long like half the time. And use a flexible hair spray on that will hold the curl but make it touch ably soft. Good Luck.
