I have natural straight long hair and i usually curl it or scrunch it with mousse or gel. But how could i just give it body and volume without it being hard or a curling iron (that takes too long to do all of my hair). I've tried those big hot rollers but it falls out really quickly and then my hair just looks dumb lol. Here's a picture of how i sorta want it to be if it helps any. Thanks!

Use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner. And then after you style your hair the way you want it tease it (or back-comb it) and hairspray it with volumizing hairspray. Also, if you blow-dry your hair upside down and aim the blow dryer at your roots it will add volume. You can also try velcro rollers. Just wrap sections of your hair around them and let them sit.
For that style I would recommend wrapping your hair around a 1/2 in- 1 in curling iron, instead of clamping your hair and wrapping it. It creates those loose waves.How would i give my hair body like this?

I have straight hair..i want curly. how?
I have very straight hair. I would like to be able to scrunch it a little bit here and there. I have herd that if you braid your hair at night when its wet it will be curly enough for you to scrunch in the morning. How do you do that??
Also i have been thinking about getting a little perm. I dont want a huge Puff of curls just a little wave so its curly enough to scrunch every once in a while. I herd that drugstore perms that they sell in a box work good. have you herd of it, and if so how did it work??
any other ways to curl my hair with out a curling iron perferably.

well, if you want to curl your hair, you could use curling shampoo. when you get out of the shower, dont blow dry it, wait for it to dry on its own. and dont brush it either. instead just scrunch your hair a bit in places to help it curl.

Okay, so in about 2 hours I have to be out of the house on my way to an important work meeting. I really want to curl my hair so I can look good and make an impression, but I only have my hair straightener because my curling iron broke. ok well for you guys who have seen Cheaper by the Dozen 2.... well Carmen Electra who plays the rich guys wife you know how her hair is kinda wavy and curly how do they get that style. i just got a curling iron as a gift and i've never really used one before. I have straight hair that lies like that on its own so I usually just wear my hair down without having curled it or any hair product in it. My hair is fine and goes a few inches below my shoulders with one layer at the bottom. Basically like the style of the picture without the curls. I'd like to add some volume and texture to my hair because it seems to get flat.
But I'm not familiar with styling hair. I've hear that to be able to get your hair like that it takes a lot of hair products: sculpting creams, root lifter, hairspray ect. I think I know how to get the waves like the picture: wrap strands of hair around the barrel of a curling iron.

my friends have straight hair and i always suggest that to them and it works for a nice wavy/natural look.
you could just curl your hair a little, then lightly mist some hairspray on, flip your head and toussle for a little bit. then flip ur head up. (repeat a few times) it'll make ur hair big and sexy, and with a little hairspray, itll stay that way.

to the first 2 questions it depends on how long your hair is if it is really long or sort of long then i would say about 1 or 2 hours

I have hair just like yours. What I do is exactly what you said. You'll need to blow dry your hair straight FIRST and then use a wide curling iron or rollers. Use a little smoothing gel and spray gentle when you have the look you want.

Ok so my hair is not exactly curly, its just big. Very big. But i try to scrunch it while blow drying upside down with some product in it, But it gets a little wavy. I scrunch it some more and it's the same. So when its dry i brush through and my little not so good curls get brushed out.
I try using a curling iron but my hair like can not be curled. I even had my mom help she couldn't do it.

i have the same problem. the trick is to straighten your hair first. straighten it like normal with a flat iron and then use a very hot curling iron and lots of hair spray.
If you want beautiful curls, go on youtube and type in HOW TO CURL YOUR HAIR WITH A STRAIGHTENER. With that video you can do beautiful curls that stay. Before you do this, make sure your hair has mousse on and heat protectant. If this doesn't work, maybe you could try a salon perm?

I don't blow dry mine. I leave it basically dripping wet and scrunch it dry with a t-shirt (reduces frizzyness). Just get a good product that's made for your hair type.
when your hair is wet put mousse in it. divide it into a top and bottom half (clip the top part so its out of the way). divide the bottom half into 4 sections (from left to right or vice versa) using your finger twirl your hair very tightly. do this to all the sections of your har. then let the top part down and do the same thing. don't touch it and dont blow dry it! let it dry by itself. when its dry run your fingers through each curl so it spreads out some. hope this helps!add a name

first off you have GORGEOUS hair and looks easy to handle to get this curls get a smaller barel and start at the top of your head (roots) wrapo hair around the barrell and let it doen easy..hairspray and keep going aroung the whole head and then just straighten your bangs and wisp them into your hair =]

Well the colour is very similar to your own natural hair colour, but go for it if you want! There are 3 ways of getting the wavy effect.
1.)You can get anti-frizz curl scrunching spray from any good drug store. Just spray it into dry hair and and scrunch it. This gives it a nice tousled effect.
2.) Plait your hair in small, tight plaits over night. Take them out in the morning and You have lovely waves!
3.)Use straighteners or curlers to get waves!

In school, EVERY girl changesup her hair. One day it's pin straight %26amp; the next curly. One day it's wavy %26amp; the next up in a ponytail.
And with me, my hair is always just straight down. And every girl always asks me ';How come you don't ever curl your hair?';
And I get so jealous because all those girls style their hair so beautifully but I can't.
And I curled my hair yesterday night. And it was so pretty. And I put hairspray on all the pieces. Piece by piece I kept applying hairspray. And then, within a half hour it started to untangle and become straight. Then, I tied it in a low ponytail tucked my curl hair inside my shirt so it wouldn't mess up, and I woke up and my hair is wavy and not nice and pretty.
What do I do? I REALLY want it to stay nice and curly for school tomorrow. Especially because we're taking candid yearbook photos.

Think about it. If you're hair won't go curly maybe it's not meant to. You might not have the bone structure for it. Anyways why don't you try alternatives...maybe instead of curling it try to volumize it. Use big curlers (it might be uncomforble) sleep with them on then in the morning apply hairspray underneath your hair to keep it a little poofy see not curly but there is still volume. Also why do you want to be like all the other girls maybe your hair should just stay like that it might be better. If your really desperate: get a perm

its really herd to keep it curly
ive done the strand by strand, hairspary curl and the same thing happens tto me...within 30 minutes it goes retarded
what you can do is use rollers
you know those old school things people use to use before hot irons...put all of your hair in those and sleep with them on...and make sure to put hairspray in them just like you would if you were curling them with a hot iron...
and in the morning...leave them on and addsome heat with a blowdryer...take them out and add more hairspray...and you should be good for the day

Go to the store and get some hair rollers about 30 to be on the safe side.. tonight before you go to bed.. curl one piece at a time.. curl one than roll it up in the roller. repeat over and over. tie a scarf around your head. Get up in the morning take the rollers out and it will be very curly.. style the way you want it

Think about it. If you're hair won't go curly maybe it's not meant to. You might not have the bone structure for it. Anyways why don't you try alternatives...maybe instead of curling it try to volumize it. Use big curlers (it might be uncomforble) sleep with them on then in the morning apply hairspray underneath your hair to keep it a little poofy see not curly but there is still volume. Also why do you want to be like all the other girls maybe your hair should just stay like that it might be better. If your really desperate: get a perm

ive done the strand by strand, hairspary curl and the same thing happens tto me...within 30 minutes it goes retarded
what you can do is use rollers
you know those old school things people use to use before hot irons...put all of your hair in those and sleep with them on...and make sure to put hairspray in them just like you would if you were curling them with a hot iron...
and in the morning...leave them on and addsome heat with a blowdryer...take them out and add more hairspray...and you should be good for the day
try using gel
hairspray
use rollers
Luckily for me, my hairs naturally curly, but its quite easy to straighten, so i dont s'pose i can help you
Go to the store and get some hair rollers about 30 to be on the safe side.. tonight before you go to bed.. curl one piece at a time.. curl one than roll it up in the roller. repeat over and over. tie a scarf around your head. Get up in the morning take the rollers out and it will be very curly.. style the way you want it

with scrunching i use regular gel it doesn';t have a name then i use suave moose and suave hairspray. i wet it, put it in a towel. brush it. (sometimes put it in a bun while i get dressed and do my makeup) put it down shake my head (like bowing a fliping your hair lol) then put gel in my hand and lightly scrunch through my hair and do the same with mouse.
for the straightener i have a cortex it was around 80 it works amazing.
and for the protection i use got2Bglued before straightening hairspray.

I use Garnier Fructis Curling Mousse, and it works GREAT!
I dry my hair of a little bit, put in into a bun for 20 minutes, take it down, and shake it out. Then, you apply a good amount of the mousse into your hand, and run your fingers through it and scrunching it. Don't repeat over the same spot too many times, because then it will not stay scrunched.
As for the flat iron? I have the Chi, and it's originally 200 dollars. I got mine on sale for 100.
It's the best flat iron you can get, and it's worth the money. It will last you 5 year minimum :)anything than natural hair

i got layers about a week ago and it seems that when i straighten it my hair curls up at the ends and it NEVER did that before. A few things to help you get 'beach waves' ...
Wrap your hair in small buns around your head when your hair is just damp. (Do not draw out partings)
When you wake up in the morning, do not comb or pick your hair, Just take the buns out and go.
Don't make the buns all to tight, take medium size peices of hair, and pin it with bobby pins...
That or look it up on your tube, they have videos online to offer more help....How to curl straight hair or give it light waves with a flat iron or bendable rollers?
Put a piece of your hair in your straightener like you are going to straightenit but wrap your hair around it and then turn the straightener once, slowly, and then slowly move it down like you are straightening it. That should give you light waves. That's what I normally do:)

1. It's just as damaging to get a straight perm as to straighten everyday, but I got a straight perm because its a lot easier to wake up w/ straight hair than to spend 30 mins every morning. Plus, my hair looks much better straight permed than when I did it myself!

Don't get a straight perm they end up ruining your hair.
What I do because I have curly hair and like to wear it straight is: But a serm in my hair firstly then I Get the blow drier and point it downwards on my hair. This usually makes it straight then If i have any curly spots I just straighten them.

I think you need to leave your hair alone. I have natural curly hair and its beautiful and rare.

I turn guys heads now because i died it back to bruenette and i scrunch it and put hairspray in it and it looks really beautiful!! I have nice thick curley hair thats a little past my shoulders and people never even knew my hair was like that. My friends were like ';Ok! you have amazing hair!!';
um perm because you curl the curls go straight again and if sraight iron you have to do it everyday and ur hair gets frizzy and also it takes a good length of time everyday to do that so go wit the perm!!!ho do i go about starting

1. It's just as damaging to get a straight perm as to straighten everyday, but I got a straight perm because its a lot easier to wake up w/ straight hair than to spend 30 mins every morning. Plus, my hair looks much better straight permed than when I did it myself!

Don't get a straight perm they end up ruining your hair.
What I do because I have curly hair and like to wear it straight is: But a serm in my hair firstly then I Get the blow drier and point it downwards on my hair. This usually makes it straight then If i have any curly spots I just straighten them.

How should i wear my hair for my dance competition?
i have a seriously serious dance competition coming up in like 10 days. i need to know how to wear my hair for it the total amount of points you can get 200 points and my hair counts for 50 POINTS! so if you don't have anyway to help me then just leave me alone please so i can wear my hair anyway i want to.My hair is to my shoulders im not cutting it and im not dying it.so if you have pictures of hairstyles that is fabulous,but [if you can] please add how to do it.like ,for example, if you said : you should put it in a ponytail and curl your hair and blah blah blah, then please add a picture or a saying saying to do this and then do that. you know wat im saying? well please help if you can seriously.my private coach said that i have a 5 in 7 chance of winning this thing. so seriously help.i can straight-in it,curl it with a curling iron,curl it with curling things that you heat up and then keep in your hair for ever so long, and NO HEADBAND I DEAS OR BEADS! please so id ou can help itll be a big help to me too so pretty please if you can please do

Ok, if you have like the front part of your hair curled and curly and the back jus really straight like you straighten, would that look weird? Or curly the back also instead of straight? And I have foam curlers and I'm wondering if I can sleep with that at night and how do I make it stay the nxt morning for school? And I don't want my hair to feel all hard and stuff from the hairspray! And also if I use my curling iron, It'll take a long time to do my hair in the morning cuz I barely have time to get ready! well you are right !! you do need large curlers but my question to you is:...is your hair the same length as hers?? IF your hair is the same length as hers then i would buy 3 inch or 4 inch curlers....section how ever you like....but the size of the sections are..well put it this way....dont take sections larger than the curler itself (when you look at the side of the curler)....like this....O....----(thats the side view) LOL..... put the curlers in your hair when its wet or damp but use product before rolling...like a strong hold mousse....i think gel would be too harsh.....then allow to dry like sleep with them in....when dry rub in your hands some serium or cream and distribute through your hair....its ok you wont ruin it!! She probably used really large curlers.To get this effect without curler sleep in a ballerina bun and put a ton of hairspray in before you go to bed. Then when you wake up take out the buns then run you finger through your hair with hair gel, but don't brush it. That will work.
I'm not a hair stylist, but I think that could be done even without curlers. Anyway, if they did use curlers/curling iron, I would guess at least a 2'; barrel and it looks like 1/2 to 1 inch sections of hair. I would spray each section of hair with a heat tamer also to keep it from damaging the hair. Just play around with it and see what works...some people can even get that look by putting their hair into a few braids....BIG ONES, not little braids....that would look like you crimped it. And sleep in it. I'm not sure...but that's what I would try.

so i've used a curling iron before and there's a piece that you clamp on the bottom of your hair and then roll it up and curl. when i use rollers how do i get my hair to roll around the roller? i think i'm having a problem because my hair is entirely too straight to start with and it doesnt want to wind around the rollers. am i retarded? why is this so hard for me?How do you roll your hair around the rollers???
It's tricky wrapping stick straight hair around a roller. It resists bending.

at walmart theres a roller set thats called ''thats it'' its red n green n their short. they r great !! it takes a couple times but u twist ur hair a little n just rollaround the very ends. its the only one i can get to work--good luck

Now hook the ends of hair under the roller and start to roll to the inside. Then pin down. I never do my own hair. Rather let a friend do it or go to a hair salon. It is so much easier.

I've watched a video on youtube on how to curl your hair with a straightening iron but, I tried it with mine and it didn't work.. For people who can never get their hair to stay curled!!!?
Okay well i know alot of people have problems getting their straight hair to curl, i'm one of them haha.. Buut recently i've found a way that i can get my hair to curl ...and stay curled all day... while looking natural and not using any hair spray! soo.. i thought i'd just share my new-found-maybe-not-so-new-to-other-peop鈥?way to keep it curly!
WARNING: I DO babble soemtimes so just read over that haha sorry
first of all i shower at night (its actully a lot easier) and some people will say ';i need to shower in the morning because of grease'; welll i did to until i showered at night for like a week and my hair finially caught onto the program after that week and doesnt get greasy in the morning anymore (my bangs do sometimes but then i just wash them in the sink) anyways sorry bout that babble. so after i shower at night (i usually shower round 10 PM. and use shampoo and conditionar ALL over) i comb my hair with a wide tooth brush and towel dry it to a semi dampness then i just go watch TV or go on the computer until its bascilly dry (you know how its not wet anymore but its cold like it is) then i french braid it (a single frenchbraid) and go to sleep then the next morning i brush my teeth get dressed and everything and then i take out the braid and run my fingers and a wide tooth comb threw it.. theen i take my smallest curling iron and i curl a few random peices on my top layers all over and then i run my fingers threw them anndd wahla! it done and because my hair already has some curl from the braid i dont have to worry bout missing peices in the back and cause it does already have that curl the other new curls stay in all day
again sorry bout the random babbling. let me know if you've done/heard of this before and if it works for you =D
oh and btw save your hair and use a moisterizing shampoo and conditionar with damage repair or use heat protection sprayFor people who can never get their hair to stay curled!!!?

I have straight hair the same length as yours and there are a number of different ways to curl your hair. Here are some of my techniques:
1. Hot rollers - they seem old fashioned but the work really well to give big soft curls like in the picture - they take about 15 minutes to put in and then you leave them in for 15 minutes (while applying make-up) then take 5 minutes to take out - it will take some practice but it works well once you have the hang of it.
2. Not sure what they're called but they are cold, bendy sticks and you wrap your hair around them and coil it into a bun and either sleep on it or blow dry it and that also produces a nice curl and is fairly easy
3. Scrunching... easy and fast - I apply a texturising spray to my wet hair and scrunch pieces of it under the hairdryer and you get a messy, beachy look which is not like your picture but different types of curls are good.
4. straightening iron (ghds are fantastic) - it took me a while to get the hang of the motion but there are two ways to produce curls with it that I find effective.
- taking a piece of hair at the scalp and clamping it, then you twist the straightener one revolution and pull through the length of your hair or you can start half way to produce curls only at the bottom
- or you can clamp a piece at your scalp and turn it 180 degrees and pull it down for about 5cm then turn it the other way 180degrees all the way down the piece of hair and that also creates a nice wave
- if you combine the two methods you get a natural look and once you've practised, you will learn variations
5. Last super easy method is to put your hair in a few buns on your head and blow dry each one for a few minutes and that also gives beachy waves.
I have limp fine hair and it took my years to work out what would hold curls in.... you can buy volumising mousse or spritzes that you put in your hair before curling which work really well. I use garnier XXL volume which is fantastic. I use a texturising spray on my curls which also makes the waves look good but if you want a more perfect looking style like in your picture, I would suggest curling or volume mousse before styling and then a light hairspray to hold because you don't want it to look unnaturally glued together or to weigh the curls down.A ';how to curl your hair'; question!?

You can skip the leave-in conditioner; Heat protectant sprays have a conditioning agent.
After towel-drying your hair, spray heat protectant (Tresemme is great, and very reasonable) generously over your hair. Then apply a curl-defining gel-- or mousse, if your hair is fine-- (Tresemme Bouncy Curls Defining Gel or Flawless Curls Mousse) through your hair. Comb through with fingers to ensure even distribution. Blow dry straight with a round brush, or upside-down, to give your hair some body.
After your hair is dry and you've finished curling, spritz with a dry hairspray (like Aussie Sprunch Aerosol, or Tresemme Tres Two Ultra Fine Mist).

I use a texturising spray on my curls which also makes the waves look good but if you want a more perfect looking style like in your picture, I would suggest curling or volume mousse before styling and then a light hairspray to hold because you don't want it to look unnaturally glued together or to weigh the curls down.A ';how to curl your hair'; question!?
use a strainer that what i use then pull them down to drop them a little it will stay for the whole day
You can skip the leave-in conditioner; Heat protectant sprays have a conditioning agent.
After towel-drying your hair, spray heat protectant (Tresemme is great, and very reasonable) generously over your hair. Then apply a curl-defining gel-- or mousse, if your hair is fine-- (Tresemme Bouncy Curls Defining Gel or Flawless Curls Mousse) through your hair. Comb through with fingers to ensure even distribution. Blow dry straight with a round brush, or upside-down, to give your hair some body.
After your hair is dry and you've finished curling, spritz with a dry hairspray (like Aussie Sprunch Aerosol, or Tresemme Tres Two Ultra Fine Mist).

Curling hair ... need help with one thing....10p?
okay so i bought a straightener, which also can be used to curl hair... so i curled my hair today, i sprayed my curls with hair spray, and like half an hour later the curls feel out and i was left with
straight hair...
it cost a lot, and its used by the hairdressers..
The lady demenstrated it on my hair to show me how it turns out, she got a real nice curl in my hair, and it stayed in for a longer time.. she also said a good iron should keep your curls in for a long time... but it didnt stay in long at all...
soo... is there a secret or what?
because i want my curls to stay in for a long time...
hair spray doesnt help me at all..
also if you have any vids that show how to get nice ringlet curls using a staightener :)

hairdressers r pros....they knw how to do the hair professionallly.....well as u said tht its used by hairdressers...they have their own style of using it....the lady maybe a pro in using the straightener....
