Wrapping technique with curling irons?

I'm trying to learn how to curl my hair with a curling iron using the ';wrapping'; technique. I keep hearing about it and I really don't understand how to wrap a strand of hair around the unopened iron and get a good result! Am I right in that you are not supposed to open the tongs? How do you hold the ends of your hair to the iron without burning your fingers? How do you wrap the hair since the cord is at the bottom of the iron? I can only imagin doing this with a cordless iron, however all the pros use a corded one...I'm really confused here.Wrapping technique with curling irons?
Stylist here!! maybe I can help, its pretty easy but yes you have to watch not to burn your fingers.... its much easier doing someone elses hair... but give it a shot it is the new look and its just so cute..... first always use a curl inhancer, protector. It will give your hair memory and it makes it easier to control. I love spray starch from Redken. or hair spray will work for the time being, just spray each section before you curl. take vertical sections depending on the amount of curl and with the iron faced upward , cord down (like normal) take your section and wrap around iron keeping hold of the ends (slightly pinch together) dont worry because you want about 1/4 -1/2 inch left straight anyway.. if your hair is long with long layers or one length just section off front about the width of your iron vertically and wrap the whole section around the iron. hold on to the ends. you will get a pretty soft , loose wave. remember the bigger the iron the bigger the wave.... Also I dont know if you have tried using the flat iron to curl your hair.. thats a cool technique too. just slide flat iron down section of hair rotating it around in a circular motion, as you do so. you get a beautiful bouncy curl or wave...both techniques are very easy, just hard to explain......hope this helps...Wrapping technique with curling irons?
The same way you wrap your hair in hot curlers. It is more winding than wrapping.
put the very ends of your hair at the base of iron up by the hinge then hold the iron vertically then slowly in small circular motions move the curling iron over and under hair moving towards the scalp.
