i jus wnna kno cuz ive seen so many tutorials bout curling your hair with a flat iron n they do it so easily n wen i try it it doesnt come out tht way. it doesnt even curl. also, they nvr mention it..How hot does a flat iron have 2 b (in degrees plz) to curl your hair with it?

When you are curling your hair with rollers do you leave your hair wet or dry?
I have no idea how to use curlers, or as a matter of fact curling iron either.
I have tried and tried to use them and they never work. I always make sure my hair is dry though . . .

Well i wash my hair and LEAVE IT WET when i put rollers on and then go under the hair dryer for like 40 minutes to an hour then i take out the rollers and blowdry my hair straight. when i do this my hair turns out really nice. take a strip of hair and hairspray it quickly after doing that use the curler to curl it and hold it for about a minute. do this to all of your hair. if it doesn't curl. Comb out the hairspray and repeat the process just hold the curler in your hair longer.
if the curler doesn't work then after you get out of shower during the night put big culers in your hair and hairspray them. and then fall asleep with them on.
try not to sleep on your hair though.

There's a product that Got2Be sells, and it's hot iron twist or something? its a bright green spray bottle, put that in your hair(wet or damp), and then blow dry your hair while scrunching it. And make sure you keep your curling iron on 15 minutes before you use it to make sure it's really hot..take a section of hair, spray it and then curl it, keep it on longer and then spray it when you take it off, make sure you don't wash your hair the same day that you curl your hair because the natural oils in your hair will help you hold the curl

I've never curled my hair with a flat iron before, so I was watching how-to videos on the internet. All of the videos seem to display long-haired girls. Have any of you with shoulder-length hair curled your hair with a flat iron? Does it work? Does it just curl the ends or does it actually curl the hair from root to tip? (I tried curling my hair with hot rollers, but it just curled the bottom couple inches. It made me look like a poodle.)

So, my hair is really long (past me butt) and pin straight, and I really wanna curl it but whenever I use a curling iron the curls stay in for only around 2 - 3 minutes. I recently tried to curl my hair with a curling iron, and put hairspray in it while it was on the iron. It worked pretty well and the curls were gorgeous.
What I would like to know is, can this damage my hair?
If yes, then how often should I do it so it won't be that damaged? Once a week? Once every 2 weeks? Once a month?
All answers are greatly appreciated. :D

It damages your curling iron and hair by spraying hairspray on your hair like that. That sizzling sound is never good. And you should never do it.
If you want to get pretty curls then try putting some curl-boosting mousse on your hair while it's damp.
And when your hair is dry curl around the curling iron ignoring the clasp.

Okay so Besides Curling your hair with a curling iron I found this really cool youtube video on how to curl your hair heat free! Here's how you do it:
1. Make your hair damp, but not wet wet.
2. Take a paper bag [or sheet of paper] and rip it into strips vertically
3. Wrap your paper strips around your hair, then curl your hair upward around the paper, once you get to the top of your head, tie the 2 ends of the paper in a knot.
4. Leave the papers in until your hair is completely dry, or blow dry your hair on cool til dry.
5. take out the paper and you will have gorgeous voluminous curls!
I tried it my self and it works! It really does!

4. You need a really good hairspray. I find the best one is L'oreal Studio Fix [stong hold], because, (even though it goes on really sticky) it dries like rock, but still looks really natural and shiny. Or, Tresseme Strong Hold, because it's really strong, and smells gorgeous!!

I watched a bunch of youtube videos on how to do it, but I just can't seem to get it. I'm having a problem that only the bottom of my hair gets curled. Another problem is that near the top there is like little marks where I kept the flat iron there. But I don't think it would even curl my hair if I turned down the heat.

I just figured out how to curl hair with a straightening iron.
Before I was just like you because everyone would say to just straighten your hair as usual but flip it up at 180 degrees as you were running it down.
Ok the problem with that is that it is curling your hair in the wrong direction, because gravity is going to want to pull that 180 degree flip right back down.
Instead of clamping the iron onto the hair in a way that the iron is Horizontal to your head, what you have to do is actually tilt your iron so it is vertical to your head and clamp and turn as you pull through. So instead you are straightening your hair sideways while turning it. This will produce an actual curl that starts from closer to the base of your head and not just a flip or two at the end.

I've tried curling my hair with a curling iron to create vertical curls but it would never work. Well first of all it depends on your hair type. The best results come after you straighten you hair.

Stick a couple of bobby pins into and around the hair in the roller, continue and when the bottom of your hair is rolled, repeat with top half...repeat entire process on the next hald of your hair.....then blow dry, and use a little hair spray..
try different curls by making them go different ways, or make them all the same by rolling in the same direction....
for hot rollers, after washing dry your hair, and do the process above without blow drying, leave them in for about i think a half an hour, or until your hot rollers become cool

Also, a 1 1/2 inch barrel is a multi purpose size for medium to long hair, if you get a largr barrel and your hair is too short, you'll end up with wavy hair.
To prevent frizz, make sure your hair is completely dry before curling if you have just washed it. If your hair is still wet, the heat of the curling iron can actually steam and damage your hair (and cause frizz). Apply a defrizzing hair serum and heat protectant before you start.If you hair is VERY prone to frizz, you can blow dry it smooth with a paddle brush or use a flat iron first!
After curling each section, spray with an aerosol hairspray and let them cool completely before running your hands through them. For extra staying power, you can in pin your curls while they cool. All you have to do is loosen the barrel a little until you can slide the iron out while holding your hair in the tube shape with your other hand, use a bobby pin to secure and move on to the next section!

This works the best because when you first curl your hair its hot and will unravel after a certain amount of time but when you pin curl it and allow your hair to get cool it will stay and look pretty.
wash you hair and put some anti firzz creme/gel and let it dry.. after you divide you hair in sections depending on the thickness of the curl(thick sections for thick curls thin sections for thin curls) then curl all the sections... after apply a anti frizz spray or serum then some hairspray for a finishing touch,,,,
shower then blow it dry. dont blow it straight just blow it dry. then take about 2 inches of hair and curl it with the curling iron keep doing this until ur hair is fully curled. u might wanna try using a heat protective spray so your hair is more shiny. then once ur hair is fully curled out it back in a very small half pony. just take a tiny amount from each side and pin it together with a cute clip

chi works great. just start at the top of your hair, and twist it the direction you want your spiral to go and drag it all the way down. let it go and it should pop up perfect.
you could either get a better curler and curl your hair in layers (i reccomend conair)

chi works great. just start at the top of your hair, and twist it the direction you want your spiral to go and drag it all the way down. let it go and it should pop up perfect.
you could either get a better curler and curl your hair in layers (i reccomend conair)

none my daughter has natural curly hair and went to a salon and had it straightened for 400.00 bucks and when she washed it it curled right back up and my niece tryed to straightening it for her twice in a month before the salon and fried her hair she had to let it grow out

How do you curl your hair?
I am graduating tomorrow. I have really long hair. I am about 5' 4'; and my hair go up to my knees. I have never got my hair cut, so they are kind of messy at the bottom. I am trying to curl my hair from the bottom, but it is not working with a curling iron. I tried it and it curls about 5 inches of my hair. I don't know what to do. Help me please.

How about spraying your hair with water (damp, not wet) and then putting it in a bunch of braids overnight? It will be wavy, not curly, but it's so long that unless you wrap it on cans or HUGE rollers I don't think it's going to curl (and it would be really hard to sleep, too!).
Maybe you can do a modified pin curl - with smaller pin curls you make a curl, then bobby pin it to your head. Maybe you can wrap some hair into a curl and bobby pin (or another big pin or clip) and clip it to your head.
The only other thing I can think of is to keep moving the curling iron up until you have more of the hair curled, but it is going to take forever and I don't know that the curls will stay very well.

I have hair that naturally has a lot of body and wave. I don't have ringlets but when it gets wet it does have curl. I love how my hair looks when I curl it with a barrel curling iron but by the end of the night it always falls flat no matter how much hairspray I use. Also, it's sometimes frizzy; nothing like when i straighten it. you got to use a VARY VARY good curler it might be pricey but its worth it
take a small section of hair and clamp it in the curling iron as far down as you can, then twist it making sure that you're not going against the bottom end (if that makes sense) hold it for a little bit then turn the curling iron so that its verticle and pull down while your pushing the clamp open

ok here some tips and some that dont even need a curler
now if you have thick hair your going to want a bigger barrel curling iron...and thinner hair a smaller barrel..... now what my mom does is she parts my hair down the middle from nose and backwards and then puts half into a bun and then the rest she leaves down she then takes a small clump she brushs through it once then does the curling iron down so theres about 2 and maybe a half inchs left and then curls it around the barrerl...holds it for about 10 seconds tops the lets it go and runs her fingers through it does the rest of that side then does the other side
other tips is try getting some curling moose or curling hair products condisioners etc...
and if you want a easy curl try doing rollers in your hair before you go to sleep there acutualy not that bad to sleep on

Also use a serum to separate the curls, and give the hair a spray after each section.

Whats the best way to curl your hair?
i have never curled my hair before and i want to curl it for haloween(:
my hair is naturally very straight and im guessing probably wont curl very easily..
i have a very old curling iron that was my sisters... and well.. i dont really know how to use it...

OK, well with minimal time and minimal details about your hair type, this is my best advice.
Put your hair in sections and pony each one. Work one section at a time.
1. Turn on the iron and let it get hot. It doesn't matter if you hair is straight. What matters is if it is thick or thin. The thinner your hair, the lower the setting needs to be.
2. Apply a styling serum/cream/spray to your hair before putting the curling iron on it.
3. When you begin curling, comb out a half inch by 3 inch section of hair and clamp the hair mid-way through the strands. The curler should be at about a 45 degreee angle.
4. Pull the curling iron to your ends and then curl your hair up to the root.
5. Hold the curling iron in that position for 10-15 seconds. Let your hair fall. If you didn't get any curl, then do it again and hold it for longer. Figure out how long it takes your hair to curl.
You should be able to do that through your whole head. The only additional note is that when you get to the hair right next to your face, start paying attention to what direction you are curling your hair in. I'd advise that you curl away from your face to achieve the wind-swept look.
AND IF YOUR HAIR SMELLS LIKE IT IS BURNING, THEN STOP and reset the curler to a lower setting!!!
my hair is naturally wavy. not like super wavy tho. just a few waves. waht i do is when i get out of the shower, DONT BRUSH YOUR HAIR, you will never get it even close to wavy/curly if you brush your hair. then scrunch it really good with gel or mousse. then get like 6 ruber bands and twist your hair up into buns all over your head and spray it with a good amount of hair spray. leave it in for 30-45 minutes then take it out gently and dont brush it at all. just keep scrunching it everynow and then with hair spray till it is dryish. i do this and it really works (: heres a video- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLHcVeyd5鈥?/a>
The healthiest way to curl your hair is by using pins and plastic curlers, found at Walgreen or Rite-Aid. They come in large, medium or small sizes of 12.
They've sold them for ages, and I still have mine. It won't damage your hair, from heat and no chemicals.
You could use hot hair curlers.They work like a charm. Or after you shower, brush your hair, put a little gel in it, scrunch it, and then blowdry it upside down! :] I do it, and it makes my hair very wavy and curly, too.

I have very naturally straight hair, and i try keeping the damage towards it as minimal as possible. When i want my hair to curl, after my shower at night, after its freshly washed, i towel dry it, and add curling mouse. I scrunch my hair and then pull it all into a messy bun. I tye it there with a few elastics for it to stay while i sleep, and take it out in the morning when its dry. If any of the pieces are straight in the morning, i use a curling iron to fix them.

1. Towel dry hair and add HERBAL ESSENCES CURLING MOUSSE and ANTI-FRIZZ CREAM.
2. Use a diffuser to dry hair
3. add hot curlers to your hair. They are much easier, faster, and more reliable than curling irons. I recommend them!
4. Leave in for 10 mins. Take out and finger-brush curls so they don't go away.
Enjoy your curls!

I have very naturally straight hair, and i try keeping the damage towards it as minimal as possible. When i want my hair to curl, after my shower at night, after its freshly washed, i towel dry it, and add curling mouse. I scrunch my hair and then pull it all into a messy bun. I tye it there with a few elastics for it to stay while i sleep, and take it out in the morning when its dry. If any of the pieces are straight in the morning, i use a curling iron to fix them.

Okay, so my hair is naturally really really poofy and really frizzy and nasty. It's a little naturally wavy but I would never wear my hair down naturally. I usually just straighten my hair but how can I make my hair have nice curls without the poof or frizz? my mum got her hair permed.. like permanently curly and she didn't even use a curling iron. after having her hair permed and after a shower, she would just carefully blow dry it while curling her hair (you might need one of those round brushes) and then she would put hair wax. she hates gel because it makes your hair go funny after a while so hair wax might help.

i don't know what you can do with the frizz but if you buy these little sponge curlers you just take a shower brush out your hair and roll them into your hair, sleep with them in and you will have curly hair in the morning
well the way they do it to me at the salon is using rollers wit a little gel so the hair stays inplace and then they let it set under a blow driyer when its done its comes out wit beautiful curls
after that they rearrange the curls and it looks fabulous i did it for my grad.it looked so f****** cute!

Sounds like our hair is somewhat the same. I look like a lion when I wake up in the morning. My hair is frizzy, poofy, thick, and just a mess! It takes me over and hour to straighten it, so that's more of a special occastion type thing.
Anyways, I discovered this awesome, easy way to curl that takes 10 minutes tops.
You'll need some elastics (I find those tiny ones work best), and some hair spray or gel.
Take a section of your hair and twist it. Keep twisting until you can't anymore. Put that section between your teeth to hold it (no clip or any other hair tool will work, and it's only for a couple seconds). Then, take another section and twist it like the first. Remove the twisted section from your mouth and tie them with the elastic at the bottom. They will twist around eachother.
Continue doing this, 2 sections at a time, until all your hair is tied. Spray all over with a teeny bit or hair spray.
I usually do this after a shower so my hair is wet, then I let it dry over night. You could also just wet down your hair, tie it up, then blow dry it.
When your hair is dry, take over the elastics and run your fingers through the twist so they come out. Your hair will most likey be pretty curly, but not frizzy or poofy! To finish, I put a little Garnier Fructis Sleek n Shine all through the hair. Then, done!

Ok, i've tried a few attemps at curling my own hair. So, i know that you take the curler and you wind your hair up.
