Curling Iron!?! Please help me!!!

I have long pin straight hair. (Super straight!) I am getting kinda bored so i wanted to try curling it with the curling irons i have but never really use. I have one big one and one small one. I attempted curling it, but its way harder than it looks. It came out all weird looking and not in a nice curl. So how do you curl your hair. Where do you start? Any videos would be helpful because i am more of a visual learner. But any advice would be helpful. Also, what spray should i use to keep the curls in? Do i need some protecting spray or something before i curl my hair? I am really confused!

Thank for the help! :]Curling Iron!?! Please help me!!!
I have the same trouble as well with my hair [which is why I don't normally curl it at all]. So for both of us, I found a site that may help. Other than that, a good way to keep some lovely curls is to use products for curly hair [shampoo, conditioner, etc.]

Good luck!Curling Iron!?! Please help me!!!
u start wit the ends of ur hair n place it at the vry far end of ur curling iron neer the handle n slowly wrap the rest of ur hair in a slanting motion up the iron
go to howto.com

If I were you, I would get a hot roller set. You will get better softer curls. An iron will end up damaging your hair.
theres heaps of videos on youtube when i first tried it i was lyk ahh what am i doing lol but it takes heaps of practice but yea look on youtube hope i could help :)
Don't you have anything better to do?
if you wanna try something really crazy. curl your hair with foil! you cut strips and fold them in half then scrunch them together.

then put your hair into a pony [really tight] and have somebody else spray a piece of hair with hair spray then curl it tightly. after you did your whole pony make the foil hot by using a hair dryer. then sleep in it. then in the morning heat it up again. then take it out. depending on how big of pieces of hair u curled and how tightly u might get lose curls or reallly realllly curly.
ok. get a iron that has a turbo setting..walmart 12.00

get heat damage protection spray. aussie is great..also at walmart.

then section your hair into 4 even sections, starting with the under most layer, wrap the first 2 inches around the curling iron and then twist up. hold for 1 minute.release and spray with a finishing spray... i use big sex hair, spray and play..at salons, btu aussie has so much out now you could find anything you need!

you tube has allot of video under hair curling. i look at them all the time
well you can do other things to curl your hair besides using a curling iron. For example: perm, or you can brade your hair after a shower and leave them in over night and take them out in the morning.

but if u want to use an iron, put ur hair up, only letting little chunks hang down, and curl a little bit at a time. (start at the bottom and work your way to the top layer). I would put some gel in ur hair, and scrunch it with ur fingers, and spray it with hairspray.
i use to have the absolute worst time with the curling iron!!! I know what you are going through! you may want to purchase a 1 in barrel it really works the best for what I am going to instruct you on.

what you want to do is section your hair off and curl the bottom part of the curls * use smaller sections so it will be more effective also curl it in towards your face not towards the back* in order to hold it in the best use hairspray, and spray it down really really good before you even start curling. this will hold it in, and help your curl out. I hope this helps if you need anymore curling advice at all let me know musicalminded16@yahoo.com
for tight curls uyse the small and for more loose fluffy curls use large

part your hair between the top and bottom and start on bottom and steadily pull your hair down into different sections until your hair is how you want it

use anti flat syrum and bed head hair gel
Yeah,it's hard at first but you will get the hang of it!

Step 1.

Shampoo and condition your hair

Always use a shampoo specifically designed for your hair type. Make sure your shampoo is mild and cleanses your hair well. Rinse you hair in WARM water, hot water will dry your hair out. Make sure to apply conditioner for at least 3-5 minuets, so it can penetrate.

Step 2.

Towel dry your hair.Wrap your hair in a towel to remove the excess water but don’t rub, it can damage your cuticles.

-common sense-

Brush your hair and Blow dry AND turn on the curly iron :D

Step 4.

Apply a heat protecting product. You don't want your hair to burn do you?

Step 6. Divide your hair into section

Divide your hair into four sections using clips. This way it will be easier for you.

Step 7.

Now, take the curly iron in the upward position and take a 1 inch section. Furthermore, wrap your hair upward. Make sure it is straight so it won't turn out right. Don't do it too tight either, it won't give a smooth transition from your curled part to your scalp.

As you work your hair closer to your scalp, make your sections smaller. Giving a more fuller, volumized look.

Good luck! I hoped I helped you!

Don't forget the hairspray!
