I have naturally straight hair as well, so it is very hard for my hair to take curl. My trick is to take a shower the night before you curl your hair, and while your hair is still damp, spray it with some ';curl locking'; spray, or a touch of mousse (either Gairner Fructis or Tresseme products work best for me). Just don't add to much, about a half dollar sized dollop of mousse and a couple spritzes of the spray. Sleep on your hair damp, so when you wake up in the morning you hair is already ';second day dirty'; and will hold any style better. When you wake up, simply finger comb your hair.Then, curl your hair as you normal would. (with a curling iron; i recommend a 1'; barrel, or hot rollers). Once you have finished, style or part it the way you want and then give it a few quick shots of volumizing hairspray (such as Aussie Awesome Volume hairspray). Try not to toss your hair around too much, or run your fingers through it alot, or you will lose your curls and your head will be one big fuzz ball! lol. use mousse b4 u use the curler and then after, use hairspray to finish it off
well for me its the same.. i wonder most of the times if id ever be able to go to school with cute curly hair.lol.. then my mom had told me that it depends on the hairspray but aslo the type of curling iron. the more heat the longer it'll stay. so i went and purchased a revoln one for $30 and heat it up high.. and what do yah knoe, it works:D
on your dry hair spray a pre curl spray BEFORE you curl. Redken makes one called spray starch. Kinda makes crunchy curls though which I dont like. My favorite is by sexy... it's called curl 24/7. Kinda pricey...Check out the product section at wal-mart and look for anything that says ';thermal spray, heat styling'; then spray hairspray after its curled.
