I love to curl my hair (with a curling iron) and my hair used to hold a curl better. Maybe its because my hair has gotten longer or i don't know what but for some reason it just won't hold a curl! no matter how much spray gel, hair spray, mousse, whatever i put in it! i know that there are products out there like curl enhancers and activators. what are some that you have tried? preferably drugstore, walmart, etc. and inexpensive i.e. under $10. btw- i use a heat protectant and stuff. no one has to preach to me how bad heat styling is for your hair. How to hold a curl in your hair?!?
one of the tricks i always use is buying Aussie hair spray and putting in your hair while the curling iron is still in, some other hair sprays might ruin your iron but Aussie FLEXIBLE hold doesn't
this company also makes shampoos that can help curl your hair, you can find it at a drug store or Wegmans or something like that, you could could also try something like herbal essences or garnier fructisHow to hold a curl in your hair?!?
I have used Suave products and they work great. Especially the extra hold hair spray. Also, Pantene hairsprays work well too. What my stylist does whenever she has done my hair for formal occasions is spray a light amount of hairspray BEFORE she curls it. The heat of the curling iron helps the hair spray mold to your hair and the curl will stay longer. Don't worry though, it's no more damaging than spraying it on after. Also, if your hair is getting longer, try starting the curling iron up more towards your root, holding it for a few seconds than slowly working your way down towards the end. If you try and curl the entire strand at once, the heat won't be able to distribute evenly to the entire section. Therefore, the ends will seem more curly than the roots.
the best way is just to tie your wet hair in small buns, and then blow dry it.I hate to damage my hair so i've been using this method for a long time and it always works.however, you might needa experiment a bit on how tight you want your bun to be.the looser the bun, you'll get loose curls.go on youtube and you'll be able to find many many videos on that!hope i helped!
this sounds weird but the night before you curler your hair dont wash it then Spray the poop out of it right after you curl it
buy ';Pump It Up'; Its the best hold ever!!!!
I have the same problem. My hair is very thick and has never held curls. Back when I was in school and went to prom, once my curls fell out before I got there! They also fell out on my wedding day and I had to go to the drugstore and buy a curling iron to re-do it myself :(
I have researched this too. I have read to spray the section with hair spray before you curl. Keep the iron in place for about 20 seconds, the spray again. I've also read to pin the section to your scalp and let it cool after you've removed the iron. Once it's cooled, unpin it. Work with very small sections too.
Try hot rollers if you haven't already. Spray your hair well and roll each section. Keep them in for as long as you can and don't brush the curls. Just use your fingers. Good luck!
